High Strength & Heat Resistant G11 EPGC203 Laminates | Machined Insulation Parts

by:ZTELEC     Time: 2026-03-17

In the fields of high-voltage electrical equipment and industrial automation, insulating materials must not only possess exceptional electrical properties but also demonstrate the ability to withstand high-temperature environments and mechanical stress. As a high-performance epoxy-glass fiber composite, the high-strength, high-temperature-resistant G11/EPGC203 laminate is widely utilized in the fabrication of various electrical insulating components. They can maintain stable performance under harsh working conditions and are preferred insulating materials for medium and high-end equipment manufacturing.

G11 and EPGC203 are, in fact, internationally recognized designations for the same material: a rigid laminate produced through a high-temperature, high-pressure lamination process, utilizing epoxy resin as the binder and glass fiber cloth as the base substrate.

G11: Corresponds to the standard grade established by the U.S. NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association).

EPGC203: Corresponds to the equivalent model within the IEC standard system.

By virtue of its superior heat resistance and mechanical strength, this material is extensively employed in the manufacturing of critical components such as transformers, electric motors, power generation equipment, and jigs and fixtures.

Key Performance Advantages of G11/EPGC203 Laminates

1. Exceptional High-Temperature Resistance

This constitutes the core advantage of G11/EPGC203 when compared to conventional epoxy laminates such as G10 and FR4. It maintains dimensional stability and reliable insulating performance even under high-temperature operating conditions.

G11/EPGC203 laminates can sustain a continuous operating temperature of over 155°C, and certain specifications can withstand peak temperatures of 180°C.

Furthermore, its retention rate of mechanical strength at elevated temperatures is significantly superior to that of standard FR4 materials.

2. High Mechanical Strength

G11 EPGC203 laminate is reinforced with a high proportion of glass fibers, endowing it with exceptional tensile, flexural, and impact strength.

Thanks to these high-strength characteristics, this laminate can be utilized directly as a structural component. It is capable of withstanding the loads and vibrations associated with heavy-duty equipment without easily deforming or cracking.

3. Stable Electrical Insulation Performance

As a core material for insulation components, G11 EPGC203 laminate effectively blocks electrical current conduction.

Furthermore, it exhibits high dielectric strength, a low dielectric constant, and low dielectric loss. It maintains stable performance under high-voltage operating conditions, making it an ideal choice for high-voltage insulation components.

4. Excellent Moisture and Chemical Resistance

G11 EPGC203 laminate features an extremely low water absorption rate. Unlike wood or conventional plastics, it does not suffer from issues such as swelling or insulation failure when exposed to humid environments.

Additionally, it demonstrates a degree of resistance to oils, solvents, and weak acids, thereby broadening its range of applicable scenarios.

G11 EPGC203 Precision Machining: From Sheet Stock to Custom Insulation Components

Procuring G11 EPGC203 sheet stock serves merely as the foundation. And its true value lies in its transformation into specialized insulation components through precision machining. Despite its high inherent strength, this material possesses excellent machinability:

Turning / Milling: This insulation laminate can be cut, drilled, slotted, and otherwise machined using carbide tooling. Given the glass fiber content within G11, it is recommended to utilize dust collection equipment and implement appropriate safety precautions.

Stamping / Shearing: Thin-gauge G11 sheets are suitable for both cold and hot stamping processes. This makes the material ideal for the mass production of items such as gaskets and seals.

Thread Machining: Threads can be tapped directly into G11 EPGC203 laminate material. Furthermore, thanks to its high mechanical strength, the resulting threads are highly resistant to stripping.
